Orioles claim OF Steve Pearce off waivers from Yankees

Recall and place RHP Oliver Drake on 60-day DL

The Orioles today announced that they have claimed OF STEVE PEARCE off waivers from the Yankees.  To make room for him on the 40-man roster, RHP OLIVER DRAKE has been recalled and placed on the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis.

 Pearce batted .254/.321/.437 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 28 games for the Orioles earlier this season after being acquired from the Yankees in exchange for cash considerations on June 2.  He was designated for assignment on July 21 and claimed off waivers by Houston on July 28, where he batted .254/.347/.349 with eight RBI in 21 games.  Pearce was then acquired by the Yankees on August 27 in exchange for cash considerations and batted .160/.300/.280 with a home run and four RBI in 12 games for New York.

Drake went 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA (18.0IP, 3ER) in three starts for Double-A Bowie this season.
