The Orioles lost their battery to injury in a 5-4 win over the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon. Left-hander Wade LeBlanc left the game in the first inning with left elbow discomfort, while catcher Pedro Severino left in the seventh inning with right hip flexor tightness.

With Christian Vázquez at the plate and the Red Sox leading, 1-0, in the first inning, LeBlanc threw a pitch that was far outside. Suddenly, LeBlanc asked for the trainer and manager Brandon Hyde to take him out of the game. Right-hander Tom Eshelman took over on the mound. LeBlanc will have an MRI on Monday to determine the seriousness of the injury, according to Hyde.

Six innings later, Severino singled, but pulled a muscle as he reached first base. He was replaced by catcher Bryan Holaday. It’s not known how many games he will miss.

“He is getting looked at and we’ll have more information there, too. He wanted to stay in the game,” Hyde said of Severino.
