No. 43 Ricky Tiedemann, LHP, Blue Jays
Injury: Tommy John surgery
Expected return: Potentially late 2025
Tiedemann's Tommy John surgery, which he underwent on July 30, was a success, manager John Schneider relayed on Aug 2.

The 21-year-old left-hander, ranked the Blue Jays' No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline, had a normal Tommy John procedure, Schneider said. It was not the newer hybrid UCL repair with an internal brace that's become more popular for pitchers recently. Tiedemann will begin rehabbing from the surgery. He's expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season. (Last updated: Aug. 2)

No. 7 Marcelo Mayer, SS, Red Sox
Injury: Pectoral soreness
Expected return: TBD
Marcelo Mayer was placed on the 7-day injured list on Thursday after being pulled early from Double-A Portland's game on Tuesday. He is reportedly dealing with pectoral soreness. No. 8 Jordan Lawlar, SS, Diamondbacks
Injury:
Left hamstring strain
Expected return: Potentially late August/early September
Two games into a rehab assignment in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Lawlar reinjured his left hamstring and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said on July 10. The club's top prospect initially injured his left hamstring while legging out a triple in the ninth inning of Triple-A Reno's June 15 game. Lawlar had an MRI exam on June 17 that showed a Grade 1 strain.

The 2021 first-rounder also landed on the IL earlier this year after opening the 2024 campaign with a thumb injury. He played his first Minor League game of the season on May 29. (Last updated: July 10)

No. 17 Cade Horton, RHP, Cubs
Injury:
Right lat strain
Expected return: TBD
Horton is in the early stages of a throwing program in Arizona, Cubs assistant general manager Jared Banner said on July 10. The 22-year-old Horton (MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 Cubs prospect and the No. 17 prospect on the Top 100 list) was diagnosed with a right lat strain on June 4 and was shut down from throwing for roughly a month.

Horton, who was Chicago’s first-round pick (No. 7 overall) in the 2022 Draft, exited his May 29 start for Triple-A Iowa after logging 20 pitches in one inning (two runs allowed) against Louisville. The righty has posted a 7.50 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 11 walks in 18 innings (five starts) for Iowa, following a four-start stint (1.10 ERA with 18 strikeouts and two walks in 16 1/3 innings) with Double-A Tennessee to begin the season. No. 19 Andrew Painter, RHP, Phillies
Injury: Partial tear in right elbow
Expected return: 2025
Painter has progressed to throwing off a mound in Clearwater, Fla., after undergoing Tommy John surgery in late July 2023. He is not expected to return to game action until the 2025 season. Painter will still be just 21 years old on Opening Day next year. (Last updated: July 22)

No. 21 Jeferson Quero, C, Brewers
Injury: Torn labrum in right shoulder
Expected return: 2025
Triple-A Nashville catcher Jeferson Quero underwent season-ending surgery for a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, delaying until 2025 the rapid ascent of one of baseball’s top catching prospects.

Quero, 21, dislocated his right shoulder in his Triple-A debut when he dove back to first base. After being examined by Brewers team doctors, Quero sought a second opinion from shoulder guru Dr. Barry Meister, the same surgeon who repaired Milwaukee starter Brandon Woodruff’s shoulder last fall, and elected for a surgical route that will sideline Quero for approximately nine months. No. 23 Harry Ford, C, Mariners
Injury: Concussion
Expected return: Early August
Ford suffered the injury after taking a baseball to the facemask while catching during Thursday's game for Double-A Arkansas, Mariners assistant general manager Andy McKay shared in a text message on Sunday. Ford remained in and finished the game but was still experiencing symptoms the following day. The Travelers then placed him on the IL one day after that, on Saturday.

McKay added that the Mariners aren't concerned that Ford will be sidelined for an extended period.

Seattle's first-round pick in 2021, Ford has spent all season at Arkansas, where he's slashed .247/.373/.370 (.743 OPS) with five homers, two triples, 18 doubles, 76 strikeouts, 52 walks and 31 RBIs in 82 games.

He's also perhaps their most tradable top-end prospect ahead of Tuesday's Trade Deadline, given that he's 21 years old, is among the Mariners' most athletic Minor Leaguers and faces a logjam at the big league level behind Cal Raleigh. (Last updated: July 28)

No. 26 Emmanuel Rodriguez, OF, Twins
Injury:
Right thumb strain
Expected return: TBD
Rodriguez reaggravated his thumb injury on a swing during his rehab assignment in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League in early July. On July 6, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk while starting in center field. He then went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts on July 8 before being sidelined again. The 21-year-old initially landed on the Minor League 7-day IL on June 7 when he sprained his thumb on a slide into second base on a double to left-center field -- which was his first game back after missing a week of action due to a separate hand injury. No. 30 Jett Williams, SS/OF, Mets
Injury:
Right wrist soreness
Expected return: August
Toward the end of April, Williams began dealing with a bout of right wrist soreness, which has kept him off the field beginning April 21. To treat it, Williams received a cortisone injection in early May, but his soreness persisted enough for doctors to administer a second shot later in the month, which also didn't bring Williams back to full health. As a result, he underwent surgery on June 6. Williams is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks. (Last updated: June 7)

No. 47 Edwin Arroyo, SS, Reds
Injury: Left shoulder surgery
Estimated return: 2025
Arroyo is out for the season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder during Spring Training. In a March 13 Cactus League game vs. the Giants, the 20-year-old was injured diving back to first base during a pick-off throw. (Last updated: May 17)

No. 48 Jacob Wilson, SS, Athletics
Injury: Left hamstring strain
Expected return: TBD
Wilson's placement on the 10-day IL is retroactive to July 20. An MRI revealed Wilson's strain, which occurred in the third inning of his big league debut. The 22-year-old Wilson, who singled in his first Major League at-bat, ranks as Oakland's No. 1 prospect and earned his callup on the strength of a .438 average across three Minor League levels this season. (Last updated July 21).

No. 54 Jordan Beck, OF, Rockies
Injury:
Broken left hand
Expected return: Late July/early August
In the third game of an injury rehab assignment, Beck clocked a two-run homer during a 2-for-4 performance with a walk and three runs scored. He had been 2-for-7. Rockies manager Bud Black said Beck needs playing time after missing eight weeks, but Beck has told Black and the training staff that the hand feels good and he just needs to increase strength. The plan is to play Beck through the weekend and then assess.

Beck played in 23 games with the Rockies before his injury, hitting .190 with two homers, eight RBIs, one walk and 30 strikeouts. (Last updated: July 31)

No. 56 Carson Whisenhunt, LHP, Giants
Injury: Sore foot
Expected return: Several weeks
Whisenhunt was placed on the injured list on July 24 with a sore foot. The 23-year-old has struggled in his first year with Triple-A Sacramento, posting a 5.84 ERA in 19 starts, although he has 102 strikeouts in 77 innings. Whisenhunt made his last start for the River Cats on July 13 and allowed three runs over four frames with seven punchouts. (Last updated: July 24)

No. 59 Orelvis Martinez, 2B, Blue Jays
Injury:
Suspension
Expected return: End of September
On June 21, Orelvis Martinez fulfilled a lifelong dream by recording his first MLB hit in his debut against the Guardians. Two days later, he received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for performance-enhancing substance Clomiphene, Major League Baseball announced. (Last updated: June 21)

No. 67 Hurston Waldrep, RHP, Braves
Injury:
Right elbow inflammation
Expected Return: TBD
Waldrep started his rehab assignment with a start for the FCL Braves on July 23, striking out two batters and allowing one run and two hits in two frames. Waldrep was told he was being sent down after a June 16 start against the Rays, but he was placed on the injured list after telling the team's trainers he was dealing with right elbow discomfort. The 22-year-old hurler doesn't have any structural damage. (Last updated July 23)

No. 75 Anthony Solometo, LHP, Pirates
Injury:
Development list
Expected return: TBD
On July 26, Pittsburgh's 2021 second-rounder had his rehab assignment shifted up to Single-A Bradenton, his latest step since he was placed on the Development List on June 18 after struggling to a 6.27 ERA in 13 games for Double-A Altoona. Solometo fanned three batters across 3 2/3 frames, but also allowed three runs on three hits and two walks. He threw just 38 of 62 pitches for strikes and got only six whiffs on 29 swings. (Last updated: July 26)

No. 81 Zac Veen, OF, Rockies
Injury: Right thumb injury
Expected return: TBD
Veen, who was out of the Double-A Yard Goats’ lineup for 5 1/2 weeks in May and June, has not been featured in Hartford’s lineup since July 12 because of an injury to the right thumb. Player development director Chris Forbes said he does not know how much time Veen will miss. (Last updated: July 31)

No. 89 Felnin Celesten, SS, Mariners
Injury: Left wrist soreness
Expected return: TBD
Celesten, who has been playing the Arizona Complex League all season, had been out since June 20. According to Mariners general manager Justin Hollander, he initially received a shot to deal with soreness in June, but after going through the recovery process, that soreness returned. After seeing a different doctor and getting a second shot in a different location in his wrist, he built back up to full strength and returned to action July 23 -- going 2-for-2 before diving into a base and re-injuring the wrist.

"Unfortunately, he did not feel good after diving into the base, so we’ll reassess where we’re at," Hollander said.

In his first professional season, Celesten is slashing .352/.431/.568 with 27 RBIs in 32 games. (Last updated: July 24)

No. 91 Mick Abel, RHP, Phillies
Injury: Development list
Expected return: TBD
Abel blazed his way up the Philadelphia organizational ladder after being selected out of an Oregon high school with the 15th overall pick in 2020. But the dynamic stuff that earned him a one-start cameo at Triple-A last year has significantly backed up in his first full taste of the Minors’ highest level in 2024. Across 17 starts for Lehigh Valley, the 22-year-old has a 6.66 ERA and has walked 58 batters in 77 innings, while yielding 14 homers in that span. The move to the development list allows both the club and Abel to hit pause in an attempt to right the ship moving forward. (Last updated: July 31)

No. 97 Sal Stewart, 3B/2B, Reds
Injury: Hand
Expected return: TBD
Sal Stewart was placed on the 7-day injured list by the Dayton Dragons on July 17 and is reportedly dealing with a hand injury. The 2022 first-round pick is batting .279 with an .845 OPS, eight home runs and 46 RBIs across 80 games. (Last updated: August 1)

No. 99 Braxton Ashcraft, RHP, Pirates
Injury: Forearm soreness
Expected return: First week of August
Ashcraft was placed on the injured list on July 12 with recurrent symptoms of lateral forearm tightness. The team got a second opinion from the surgeon of record, Dr. Keith Meister, who did Ashcraft's Tommy John procedure in 2021 and confirmed it was muscle-related on the outside forearm. He is not pitching in games currently, but he is playing catch on flat ground with the hope that he could return to the mound in seven to 10 days. (Last updated: July 23)
