BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado's torrid start to the season continued in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, as the Orioles shortstop homered for the fourth time in three games, collecting No. 13 on the year off Rays starter Chris Archer.
Machado, fresh off a grand slam in a two-homer, six-RBI night on Friday, went yard in his second at-bat in the third inning of a 6-3 win. The blast, which was followed by second baseman Jonathan Schoop's second homer of the afternoon, tied him with Boston's Mookie Betts for the Major League lead.
"Whatever we're doing, just stay out of the way and get a good seat and watch it," manager Buck Showalter said of Machado's impressive start. "Jon's had some success with Archer and that's hard to do, but Jon had a big day, too."

Schoop, who returned from the disabled list on Tuesday, doubled his previous season total with the pair of homers off Archer. Schoop opened the second inning with a homer and went yard again after Machado in the third. Schoop's second homer was the 92nd of his career, which tied him with Brian Roberts for the O's club record as a second baseman.
"Some pitchers you have more success off," Schoop said following the seventh multihomer game of his career. "You just go out there and try to compete, and try to put a good swing and hit the ball hard somewhere, and hope you get one and win. That's all that matters."
Machado's homer gave him a team-leading 36 RBIs. Machado, who will be a free agent at the end of the season and may become available in advance of the non-waiver Trade Deadline, was named co-American League Player of the Week last month and hit nine homers in April. Still just 25, Machado now has 151 career homers and became the youngest player in Orioles history on Friday to hit the 150 mark.
