The format for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game has changed, but the overwhelming amount of prospect talent on hand has not.

After 20 years of pitting U.S. and World teams against each other, the Futures Game will switch to American League versus National League on July 7 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The annual prospect showcase also has been shortened from nine to seven innings for the first time since the inaugural 1999 contest.

Thirty-seven of the 50 players selected to the initial rosters are members of MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, up from 30 a year ago. This year's Future Gamers include four of the game's five best prospects: Rays shortstop Wander Franco (No. 1 on the Top 100), Padres left-hander MacKenzie Gore (No. 3), Angels outfielder Jo Adell (No. 4) and White Sox outfielder Luis Robert (No. 5).

MLB Network will exclusively televise and MLB.com will live stream the Futures Game at 7 p.m. ET. Greg Amsinger, Harold Reynolds and Jim Callis will call the action, with Heidi Watney providing reporting from both dugouts. The game also will be available to SiriusXM subscribers.

Nine of the 10 members of the AL pitching staff are Top 100 Prospects, headlined by left-hander Brendan McKay (Rays, No. 23) and right-handers Matt Manning (Tigers, No. 32), Nate Pearson (Blue Jays, No. 41), Brady Singer (Royals, No. 45) and Grayson Rodriguez (Orioles, No. 53). The AL infield is similarly loaded with six Top 100 Prospects, including Franco, Twins shortstop Royce Lewis (No. 7), White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal (No. 39) and Indians third baseman Nolan Jones (No. 43).

The strength on the NL squad is an infield that features Nationals shortstop Carter Kieboom (No. 21), Cardinals third baseman Nolan Gorman (No. 30), Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux (No. 31) and Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (No. 38). The NL also features the game's top catching prospect in Joey Bart (Giants, No. 19); five Top 100 outfielders, led by Cristian Pache (Braves, No. 14) and 2018 Futures Game MVP Taylor Trammell (Reds, No. 27); and a deep pitching staff fronted by Gore and right-handers Sixto Sanchez (Marlins, No. 22) and Ian Anderson (Braves, No. 26).

In addition to Trammell, five other Futures Gamers played in last year's contest: Adell, Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya (No. 76), Kieboom, Manning and Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos (No. 56). The United States won that game 10-6, its 13th victory in 20 tries, as Trammell tripled and homered in two at-bats. World outfielder Yusniel Diaz, then with the Dodgers but included in the Manny Machado trade with the Orioles shortly afterward, joined Alfonso Soriano (1999) as the only players to homer twice in a Futures Game.

Hall of Famer Jim Thome, who hit 337 of his 612 homers for the host Indians, will manage the AL squad. His NL counterpart is Dennis Martinez, who won 245 games in 23 seasons and threw seven shutout innings in the 1995 AL Championship Series clincher for Cleveland.
