CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have named Ryan Fuller as the organization’s director of hitting.

Fuller, 34, spent the last three seasons as co-hitting coach with the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore ranked among the 2024 major-league leaders in home runs (2nd, 235), extra-base hits (3rd, 530), slugging percentage (3rd, .435), runs scored (4th, 786), runs per game (4th, 4.85), RBI (4th, 759), hits (7th, 1,391) and batting average (7th, .250). Since 2022, the Orioles rank fourth in the American League and eighth in baseball with 2,267 runs scored (4.66 per game).

As director of hitting, Fuller will oversee all aspects of hitting throughout the White Sox organization. He will work closely with the hitting coaches at the major-league level, minor-league staff and players across the Sox system.

During Fuller’s tenure on the Baltimore coaching staff, three players were voted as finalists for the AL Rookie of the Year award, including outfielder Colton Cowser (2024), shortstop Gunnar Henderson (winner in 2023) and catcher Adley Rutschman (runner-up in 2022). Henderson (eighth) and Rutschman (ninth) both finished in the Top 10 of voting for AL Most Valuable Player and won Silver Slugger awards in 2023. Fuller also helped guide outfielder Anthony Santander to a Silver Slugger in 2024.

Fuller served as the Orioles’ full-season hitting coordinator and Class AA Bowie hitting coach during the 2021 season. Bowie led the Eastern League in runs scored per game (5.23), ranked second in homers (170), tied for third in OPS (.760) and ranked fourth in on-base (.332) and slugging (.428) percentages. He originally was hired by Baltimore as the Class A Delmarva hitting coach prior to the 2020 season.

A native of Lyme, Conn., Fuller played one minor-league season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization after signing as a non-drafted free agent in June 2012. He played baseball at the University of Connecticut, where he was named team captain as a senior. Fuller earned a Master’s Degree in education at the University of New Haven.
