White Sox announce new Spanish radio broadcasters

CHICAGO –All regular season Chicago White Sox games will be broadcast on radio in Spanish on 97.5 FM ESPN Deportes by veteran play-by-play announcer Hector Molina, with respected Venezuelan baseball writer Billy Russo serving as color analyst.

“The White Sox are dedicated to providing all fans with the very best broadcast coverage in both English and Spanish,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing.  “The Latino community in Chicago is an important part of our fan base, and we are thrilled to have such experienced and talented Spanish-speaking broadcasters joining our team.”

Molina previously has broadcast White Sox games in Spanish, as well as Bears, Bulls and Cubs, in a broadcast career that spans nearly 30 years.  He once partnered with White Sox legend Chico Carrasquel in the White Sox Spanish radio booth.  In 2005, Molina covered the Major League Baseball playoffs and the White Sox World Series.  Most recently, he worked with Telemundo Wisconsin covering the Milwaukee Brewers.

Billy Russo, a national baseball writer who contributes to the Associated Press and ESPN Deportes, has broadcast games for the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) and covered the White Sox for the team’s Spanish website (orgullosox.com) for the past two years.  He also is a contributing writer for Líder en Deportes, a Venezuelan sports publication.

The first White Sox Spanish-language broadcast of the season on 97.5 FM ESPN Deportes will be the season opener on Friday, April 6 vs. Texas at 1:05 p.m. CT.
