MINNEAPOLIS -- White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia exited Monday's 8-5 win over the Twins at Target Field with a left hamstring strain and was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Right-hander Tyler Danish was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte and two players -- right-hander Michael Kopech and outfielder Ryan LaMarre -- were recalled from Charlotte. Kopech, the No. 2-ranked White Sox prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is scheduled to make his Major League debut against the Twins on Tuesday night.
In the fourth inning of Monday's game, Garcia gave chase to Mitch Garver's double to the right-center-field gap. He pulled up, grabbing his left hamstring. After the play, Chicago's staff went out to check on Garcia, and he had to be helped off the field, clearly limping.
"It's a slight tweak," bench coach Joe McEwing, who was serving as manager after Rick Renteria was sent to the hospital with light-headedness, said on Monday.
Garcia was replaced in center field by Adam Engel.
The 27-year-old Garcia was placed on the 10-day DL on Aug. 6 with a left hamstring strain. He was activated on Friday and started against the Royals. He did not start on Saturday or Sunday, but made late-inning appearances in both games.
Garcia is hitting .280/.310/.391 with four homers, 31 RBIs and 12 stolen bases this season.
