Thanks! Jiménez hits HR off Royals' CF
The 33rd home run of White Sox left fielder Eloy Jiménez**’s career and his second of the 2020 season got an assist from Kansas City center fielder **Bubba Starling during the first inning of Saturday’s 11-5 White Sox win at Kauffman Stadium.
With two outs, Yasmani Grandal and Edwin Encarnación on base, and the White Sox already holding a one-run lead, Jiménez launched a drive off Ronald Bolaños toward the center-field wall. Starling made a leaping attempt at the blast, got his glove on the ball and appeared to have corralled it but could not make the catch.
Not only that, but Starling’s missed attempt actually helped propel the ball over the fence.
“Oh, I feel really happy,” Jiménez said. “He gave me a homer.”
Jiménez finished with four hits and four RBIs among the 21 hits the White Sox tallied. Luis Robert also knocked out four hits, with one home run and two doubles out of his first start in the leadoff spot. The outfielders each finished a triple short of the cycle. Their efforts also marked the third time in franchise history teammates aged 23 or younger had four hits in one game.
Robert is 22. Jiménez is the older veteran at 23.
“I always say he’s one of the best players I ever seen,” said Jiménez of Robert. “He’s going to be good. He adjusts quick.”
