Vice President, Amateur Scouting
Sean Johnson, who begins his 23rd season with the Twins, was promoted to Vice President in January of 2022 after serving as Director of Amateur Scouting since the 2017 campaign. In his role, Johnson establishes the Minnesota Twins Amateur Scouting philosophies. He is responsible for strategic preparation of the First-Year Player Draft and developing the club’s amateur scouting staff. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Twins Community Fund.
Johnson originally joined the Twins in 2002 as an area scout for Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. He was promoted to West Coast Supervisor in 2007, overseeing that area’s amateur scouts for the First-Year Player Draft.
Sean was a catcher at Wichita State University from 1996-98 and received his B.A. in exercise science and sport administration in 1999. Following his playing career, he stayed at his alma mater as Director of Baseball Operations from 2000-01.
Sean, his wife Leala, daughter Sloane, and son Brooks, currently live in Eagan, MN.
