Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer
Laura Day, who announced in January of 2022 that she will step away from her current role at year’s end, is in her 27th season with the Twins — part of a prestigious sports executive career that is now in its fourth decade. Named Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer in December of 2016, she plays a key role in shaping the club’s strategic business plan. Day provides guidance for ticket sales and service, premium seating, customer loyalty and retention programs, brand partnerships and non-baseball Target Field events, with direct oversight of the Twins’ community engagement initiatives.
Day got her start in sports working for the Twins from 1991-99 and 2003-04, holding a variety of posts including Director of Corporate Marketing and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. She also served as Vice President of Sales for Victory Sports One (the Twins’ former Regional Sports Network). She rejoined the Twins in August of 2006 as SVP, Business Development, and played a central role in the planning, development, sales and marketing of Target Field’s launch in 2010. That year, the Twins established a franchise single-season attendance record by attracting more than 3.2 million fans, while the club was recognized by ESPN as having the best stadium experience in all of professional sports. She was named EVP, Business Development for the Twins in January of 2012.
Prior to rejoining the Twins, Day was one of the first Minnesota Wild employees, helping launch the Xcel Energy Center as Vice President of Corporate Partnerships from 1999-2002. During her tenure with the Wild, she led the sales strategy and development teams, launched the Twin Cities’ first premium seating program, and spearheaded the acquisition of naming rights and building founding partners.
In 2007, Day was named to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s “Women to Watch” list. She was a recipient of the Sports Business Journal’s 2015 “Game Changer” award, which recognizes women who have a major impact on the sports business. In the community, Day is the Board Chair of the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable, while also serving on the boards of the Minneapolis Downtown Council (of which she is a past Chair) and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. Previously, she served as a board member for the Greater Twin Cities United Way, the Minnesota State University Sports Management Program and Cornerstone, while she was an active member of the Executive Leadership Team for the Start! Heart Walk benefiting the American Heart Association.
The Stillwater, MN native attended Lakewood Community College and makes her home in downtown Minneapolis with her husband, Mike.
