Alex Hassan was promoted to his current role in November 2022 after previously serving as Director of Player Development for three seasons. He began his career with the Twins serving as the club's Assistant Director of Minor League Operations for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. This marks his seventh year working for the Twins.
Hassan helps lead in the oversight and operation of the Twins minor league system. He works with player development leaders, coordinators and coaches regarding on-field strategy, skill development plans and general programming. Additionally, he supports all facets of offensive player acquisition. Prior to joining the Twins, he served as a Player Development Consultant for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017.
He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft after a successful career as a two-way player at Duke University. He played eight years professionally with the Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations. Hassan made his major league debt with Boston on June 1, 2014.
