Minnesota Twins homestand highlights: June 10-20

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tomorrow for their sixth and longest homestand of this season, a 10-game, 11-day stay against Interleague foe the Colorado Rockies (3 games, June 10-12), American League West division opponent the Oakland Athletics (3 games, June 14-16) and, following an off-day on Monday, June 17, the AL East division’s Tampa Bay Rays (3 games, June 18-20).

CITY CONNECT LAUNCH

The Twins will officially reveal the club’s 2024 Nike MLB City Connect uniform tomorrow, Monday, June 10 with a day-long celebration on Target Plaza, located outside Gates 29 and 34 at Target Field, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and leading into that evening’s 6:40 p.m. home game vs. Colorado. Full details of the launch day celebration are below. The uniform’s first two on-field appearances will be on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 (both vs. Oakland).

YOUR ’SOTA SUMMER STARTS HERE

Summers in the North Star State are special and a day or evening at Target Field makes it even better! Through Labor Day, the Twins have your ’Sota Summer covered with theme nights, gate giveaways, a postgame concert and more. This homestand features two theme nights (sold-out Prince Night on Thursday, June 13 and Pride Day on Saturday, June 15), four group events (Gustavus Adolphus College Night on Monday, June 10; CBS/SJU Night on Tuesday, June 11; University of Minnesota Day on Friday, June 14; and Winona State University Day on Sunday June 16), three gate giveaways (Prince Cap on Thursday, June 13; Pride Day T-shirt on Saturday, June 15; and Father’s Day Polo or matching Kids T-shirt on Sunday, June 16) and one Kids Day presented by Target and Gillette Children’s (Sunday, June 16). On Friday, June 14, global hip hop icon Flo Rida will perform a free, 90-minute concert following that night’s Twins-Athletics game. This, Saturday’s 1:10 p.m. game against the A’s is a 612 Saturday presented by Carbliss with media partner Bally Sports North, in which fans can enjoy $6 drink specials, $1 snacks and $2 food specials from when gates open until first pitch. The Wednesday, June 19 game against Tampa Bay will feature a postgame drone show presented by Bomb Pop.

PABLO DAY

Whenever right-handed pitcher Pablo López starts at Target Field from May through September, fans can celebrate Pablo Day with the Twins’ Pablo Day Ticket Package; Pablo is expected to start on June 12 and June 16 this homestand (subject to change). Fans who purchase this package will receive a ticket to the game and an exclusive Pablo-themed jersey, which pays tribute to his Venezuelan roots. A portion of the proceeds of each package sold benefit local nonprofits Children’s Minnesota, Project Success and Ruff Start Rescue, which were all selected by Pablo and Kaylee López. Pablo Day ticket package purchasers will also be seated together in section 101. (Please note that returning “Pablo Day” attendees have the option of purchasing a section 101 ticket without the jersey.)

TWINS VS. COLORADO ROCKIES: MONDAY, JUNE 10 – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12 (3 GAMES)

Monday, June 10 vs. Colorado Rockies (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • City Connect Launch Day: The Twins will reveal their Nike City Connect uniform tomorrow, Monday, June 10, and will mark the day with a day-long celebration on Target Plaza. Tomorrow’s Target Plaza festivities are free to the public and include the exclusive first opportunity for fans to purchase the jersey, cap and apparel collection; live art and music; a complementary ballpark lunch (while supplies last); an appearance by Twins mascot T.C.; and more.   • Gustavus Adolphus Night: All associated with Gustavus Adolphus College are invited to join their fellow Gusties for Gustavus Adolphus College Night! Fans who purchased this theme night package will receive a ticket to the game and an exclusive co-themed Gustavus/Twins jersey. A portion of each ticket purchased will support the Gustavus Alumni Association. A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by alumnus and Gustavus professor Phil Bryant.
  • Fall MSHSL Champions Recognition: In partnership with the Minnesota State High School League, the Twins are proud to welcome, honor and recognize the Minnesota High School state champions from the Fall 2023 season in an on-field ceremony prior to the game. Sports recognized will be football, girls swimming and diving, volleyball, boys soccer, girls soccer, girls cross country and boys cross country.

Tuesday, June 11 vs. Colorado Rockies (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Lou Gehrig Night: The Twins will recognize Lou Gehrig Night on Tuesday against the Rockies; since his farewell speech and abrupt retirement from baseball in 1939, Gehrig has made an indelible impact on the fight against and research for ALS, the disease that now bears his name. The Twins have a longstanding commitment to ALS research, as it has claimed the lives of the fathers of former Twins Kent Hrbek and Terry Steinbach. In addition to a series of pregame videos sharing information about ALS and Lou Gehrig, activations for Lou Gehrig Night include:
  • Bulver Family First Pitch: The Twins will honor the family of Brad Bulver, who recently passed away due to complications from his ALS diagnosis. Brad’s wife, Leah, and children, Mya and Leo, will be on hand, with Leo throwing out a ceremonial first pitch.
  • Lou Gehrig Award Wheelchair Donation: Shortstop Carlos Correa has been named a finalist for the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award, recognized for exemplifying the character and integrity that Gehrig is remembered for. Carlos has provided financial support and special experiences for childhood cancer patients and their families, as well as emergency support to communities dealing with natural disasters, all through his nonprofit Correa Family Foundation. In partnership with the Permobil Foundation and the Live Like Lou Foundation, the Twins and Correa will present the family of local ALS patient Rose Aderman with a custom Twins-branded Permobil wheelchair for Rose to use.
  • Twins Territory Flag: The Twins Territory Flag will be raised by Kyle Schultz from St. Paul, who has been living with ALS for three years.
  • College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University Night: All associated with the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University are invited to join their fellow Bennies and Johnnies for CSB/SJU Night! Fans who purchased this theme night package will receive a ticket to the game and an exclusive co-themed CSB/SJU/Twins jersey. A portion of each ticket purchased will support the CSB/SJU Alumni Association. Additionally, a ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Boz Bostrom, a professor of accounting and finance at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
  • Howard Sinker Ceremonial First Pitch: Local sportswriter and editor Howard Sinker, who is retiring from the Star Tribune after 45 years, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
  • Winter MSHSL Champions Recognition: In partnership with the Minnesota State High School League, the Twins are proud to welcome, honor and recognize the Minnesota High School state champions from the Winter 2023 season in an on-field ceremony prior to the game. Sports recognized will be boys wrestling, girls wrestling, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys Nordic skiing, boys Nordic sprint, girls hockey, one act play, boys swimming and diving, dance – jazz, dance – high kick, gymnastics and boys cross country.

Wednesday, June 12 vs. Colorado Rockies (12:10 p.m.; gates open at 10:30 a.m.)

  • Prostate Cancer Awareness: The Twins will recognize the Prostate Cancer Foundation on the field prior to the game. With the support of Major League Baseball, the Prostate Cancer Foundation has raised over $70 million for lifesaving research through the annual Home Run Challenge. Through Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16, the Twins have pledged $5,000 to the PCF for every home run hit by a Twins player, as well as $1,000 for every strikeout recorded by a Twins pitcher, up to $25,000.

TWINS VS. OAKLAND ATHLETICS: THURSDAY, JUNE 13 – SUNDAY, JUNE 16 (4 GAMES)

Thursday, June 13 vs. Oakland Athletics (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Prince Night: Celebrate the legacy of The Purple One on Prince Night. 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Prince’s iconic album and movie “Purple Rain”, making this year’s Prince Night one for the ages!
  • Gate Giveaway: The first 5,000 fans through the Target Field gates will receive a Prince cap.
  • Theme Night Package (SOLD OUT): Fans who purchased this sold-out theme night package receive a ticket to the game and an exclusive purple Prince track jacket that features the instantly-recognizable “Prince” script on the front, the artist’s “love symbol” on the back and zipper, and Twins script on the left sleeve.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Johnny Nelson Jr., Prince’s nephew.
  • National Anthem: “The Star-Spangled Banner” will be sung by St. Paul Peterson, who appeared in “The Time” in Prince’s iconic film “Purple Rain” and was the lead singer in the Prince-produced group The Family. He is a member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
  • When Doves Cry Foundation: A portion of the proceeds from each theme night ticket package sold will benefit the When Doves Cry Foundation, which the Nelson siblings founded to carry on the charitable work and legacy of their beloved brother. The foundation seeks to assist nonprofits that provide shelter, food and clothing to needy and abused children and adults, along with support for music and Christian education for children.
  • 7th-Inning Stretch: Paisley Park employees will lead the crowd in “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.

Friday, June 14 vs. Oakland Athletics (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

  • City Connect First On-Field Wear Date: The Twins will wear their Nike City Connect uniforms on the field for the first time on Friday, June 14 against Oakland.
  • PLAY BALL Weekend Pregame Ceremony: June 14-16 is Major League Baseball’s annual PLAY BALL Weekend, inspiring kids to get in the game while celebrating that baseball and softball are for everyone. The Twins have a weekend packed with clinics and will host a pregame ceremony prior to Friday’s game against the Athletics, with participants from the Twins Nike RBI program and athletes from Alina Health/Brooklyn Park Adaptive Rec, done in conjunction with Courage Kenny.
  • University of Minnesota: All associated with the University of Minnesota are invited to join their fellow Golden Gophers for U of M Day! Fans who purchased this theme night package will receive a ticket to the game and an exclusive co-themed UMN/Twins jersey. A portion of each ticket purchased will support the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by legendary Golden Gopher baseball head coach John Anderson, who retired this year after over 40 years at the U of M. The winningest coach in Big Ten baseball history, Anderson took over the head coaching role in 1981 and led the Golden Gophers to 11 regular season Big Ten titles, 10 Big Ten tournament titles and 19 NCAA Postseason appearances. He is also a member of four different Halls of Fame: The University of Minnesota “M" Club (2002), the American Baseball Coaches Association (2008), the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association (2013) and Hibbing Community College.
  • Army Birthday First Pitch: On June 14, 1775 the United States Army was founded. In honor of the U.S. Army’s 249th birthday, a ceremonial first pitch will be thrown prior to Friday’s game by Major General Matthew Baker, the Commanding General for the 88th Readiness Division, U.S. Army Reserve, headquartered at Fort Snelling, MN and Fort McCoy, WI; Major General Baker is also the Senior Commander of Fort McCoy, the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin, and has served the U.S. Army for 38 years.
  • Flo Rida Postgame Concert: Global hip hop icon Flo Rida is coming to Target Field for a special postgame concert on Friday, June 14! The concert is free with a ticket to that night’s game against Oakland. VIP ticket packages are available and include a ticket to the game plus a VIP Field Pass for the concert.

Saturday, June 15 vs. Oakland Athletics (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

  • Pride Day: All are welcome at Target Field and the Twins are proud to join the LGBTQIA+ community in celebrating Pride Day! Festivities for Pride Day include:

  • Ceremonial First Pitches: Pride Day ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by former major league umpire Dale Scott and local business owner Jillian Hiscock. A native of Eugene, Oregon, Scott spent 32 years as an umpire in MLB and retired in 2017; in 2014, he became the first active official in all five major North American professional sports to publicly come out as gay and wrote about his journey in his 2022 book “The Umpire Is Out”. Hiscock is the founder and owner of A Bar of Their Own, a bar in Minneapolis’s Seward neighborhood that opened in March of this year; the bar exclusively shows women’s sports, the first of its kind in the Midwest.
  • National Anthem: “The Star-Spangled Banner” will be sung by Wyn Starks. A contestant on Season 17 of “America’s Got Talent”, Starks is a pop star, soul singer and modern-day genre blender whose debut album, Black Is Golden, came out in 2021.
  • DJ Caiked Up: Local artist DJ Caiked Up will be entertaining fans all game long from the DJ booth located inside Gate 34.

Sunday, June 16 vs. Oakland Athletics presented by Sheboygan Sausage Company

Tuesday, June 18 vs. Tampa Bay Rays presented by Pentair (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Augsburg College Wrestling Recognition: The Twins will recognize the Augsburg College men’s wrestling team prior to the June 18 game, in honor of the Auggies winning their 15th NCAA Division III National title in May.
  • Broadcast Auction: The annual Twins Broadcast Auction in partnership with Northland Ford and Bally Sports North will take place during the game on June 18! All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Minnesota Twins Community Fund and its mission to support youth and families across Twins Territory, and to create not just the next generation of great athletes but also the next generation of great humans.
  • Auction Timing and Details: Bidding on auction items will begin on June 18 at 9:00 a.m. CT; bidding will close at the end of the eighth inning of that night’s game vs. Tampa Bay. There is also a selection of Buy Now Items, which will become available at 6:40 p.m. that night (first pitch of the game).   • Juneteenth: The Twins will honor and recognize the legacy of Juneteenth, the day that, on June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, TX and announced that the over 250,000 enslaved black people in the state were free by executive decree following the end of the Civil War.
  • Drone Show: After the June 19 game against the Rays, fans can enjoy a summer-themed postgame Drone Show presented by Bomb Pop.

Thursday, June 20 vs. Tampa Bay Rays presented by Cinnamon Toast Crunch (12:10 p.m.; gates open at 10:30 a.m.)
