Full name is Tristan Colby Gray...Attended Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he played three years of college baseball at Rice (2015-17), where he was teammates and roommates with Marlins outfielder Dane Myers. They also played on the same travel ball team growing up...Prior to his 13th round selection in the 2017 Draft, Gray was selected by the Mets in the 37th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Lawrence E. Elkins (Texas) High School...His father, Jason, was selected by the Rangers in the 26th round of the 2000 Draft out of Rice University.

2023

Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Durham, hitting .235 (110x468) with 25 doubles, 30 home runs, 98 RBI and a .797 OPS in a career-high 132 games. Also set career highs in hits and RBI...Ranked T-4th in the International League in home runs and extra-base hits (56)...Made his Major League debut on Sept. 16 at BAL. Entered in the sixth inning at first base. Popped out in his only at bat in the eighth inning...Started his first ML game on Sept. 17 at BAL, going 2x4 with a solo homer in the eighth inning off Jorge López (first career home run)...Elected free agency following the 2023 season and signed with Miami as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 16.

2022

Ranked fifth in the Minors with 33 HR, which ranked third in a single season by a Minor Leaguer in franchise history behind Kevin Witt (36) in 2006 and Scott McClain (34) in 1998…spent the entire season with Triple-A Durham and led the team with 89 RBI…hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning of a 10-6 win in the Triple-A Championship Game.

2021

Limited to 75 games due to two stints on the 7-day IL. Hit .246 (61x248) with Triple-A Durham. Collected 13 doubles and eight home runs with 33 RBI.

2020

Reassigned from Major League Spring Training to Minor League camp on March 8…suffered a right hand fracture on March 6…underwent surgery on March 10, performed by Dr. Doug Carlan…was not part of the Rays 60-man player pool but played in the Instructional League.

2019

Hit a career-high 17 HR, which tied for fifth among Rays minor leaguers and tied for eighth in the Southern League…also ranked among the organization's and SL's Top 10 with 64 RBI and 61 BB… named the Rays Minor League Hitter of the Month for August, batting .288 (21-for-73) with 8 HR and 20 RBI…named SL Player of the Week for Aug 12-18, batting .375 (6-for-16) including homers in three consecutive games at Jackson (D-backs).

2018

Acquired by the Rays during Spring Training and spent the season with Class-A Charlotte…led the Florida State League with 38 2B and 53 XBH, and ranked 4th with 69 RBI…named FSL Player of the Week for July 30-Aug 5, batting .296 (8-for-27) with 3 HR and 11 RBI…recorded a career-high 7 RBI in his multi-HR game on Aug 5 at Dunedin (Blue Jays)…hit .321/.410/.583 (50-for-156) with 10 HR and 41 RBI in 39 games for the Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League.

2017

Began his professional career with Short-A West Virginia in the New York-Penn League…was the Top Star in the NYPL All-Star Game…tied for the league lead with 25 XBH, ranked second with 37 RBI, third with 101 total bases and tied for seventh with 7 HR…ranked by Baseball America as the No. 19 prospect in the NYPL following the season.
