Leyland helmed Major League teams for 22 seasons, overseeing the Pirates, Marlins, Rockies, and Tigers, achieving a total of 1,769 victories. His managerial career boasted six first-place finishes, three pennants, and the crowning achievement of the 1997 World Series title with the Marlins.
Recognized for his managerial prowess, Leyland earned the Manager of the Year accolade three times, twice with the Pirates in 1990 and 1992 and once more with the Tigers in 2006. In 2017, Leyland capped his managerial career by leading Team USA to the World Baseball Classic championship.
