Watch Tigers-Angels tonight, live on YouTube
Tonight's late-night matchup between the Tigers and Angels in Anaheim is the next MLB contest to get the digital-only treatment in a broadcast airing live exclusively on YouTube.
An MLB Network production, the game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET, and it can be viewed for free on MLB's official YouTube page. It's the third of 13 MLB Game of the Week Live on YouTube matchups that will be live-streamed exclusively on YouTube over the remainder of the season.
This is the second meeting between these clubs in 2019. The Angels took two of three from the Tigers in Detroit back in May. This week's series is crucial for the Angels as they fight to remain in American League Wild Card contention after losing a four-game series to the Orioles.
The matchup is likely to feature a pair of two-time MVPs. Angels superstar Mike Trout won the AL MVP Award in 2014 and '16, but finished second to Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera in '12 and '13.
Monday's opener pits Tigers veteran right-hander Jordan Zimmermann against 23-year-old Angels right-hander Jaime Barria.
Zimmermann has struggled mightily in July -- he's posted a 14.09 ERA through four starts -- but has had success in the past at Angel Stadium. In two career starts at the Anaheim ballpark, Zimmermann owns a 2.70 ERA, but he took the loss in both outings.
Barria, meanwhile, has bounced between the Angels and Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He bounced back from a disastrous outing, in which he allowed 10 runs to the Mariners, by holding a potent Dodgers lineup to just one run over five innings last week. It was a much-needed performance for a depleted Angels pitching staff that could see some reinforcements coming ahead of Wednesday's 4 p.m. Trade Deadline.
