Tigers doubleheader postponed by weather
DETROIT -- Friday’s doubleheader between the Tigers and Twins was postponed due to inclement weather.
The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET. The other postponed game will be made up during a straight twin bill on Sept. 4 at Target Field.
The series opener was scheduled for Thursday night but was postponed, prompting Friday’s doubleheader. Heavy rain Friday morning put the doubleheader in question, but the two sides waited in hopes that the forecast of intermittent storms would clear. Both teams moved their Game 2 starters to Game 1, thinking they might get a few innings in before the game might be suspended. With the forecast calling for storms all day and into the evening, the game was called after just over an hour-long delay.
The Tigers will keep their scheduled starters in line for Saturday. Matthew Boyd will start the opener, followed by Tarik Skubal in Game 2.
