Trammell, Morris headline promotional slate
Tigers giving out replica jerseys of new Hall of Famers; single-game tickets on sale Saturday
DETROIT -- The Tigers' 2018 promotional schedule includes a pair of replica jerseys honoring newly elected Hall of Famers Alan Trammell and Jack Morris, a series of bobbleheads celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1968 World Series champions and a Gardy gnome in honor of manager Ron Gardenhire.
The Tigers released their full promotional slate Monday. Single-game tickets go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. ET at tigers.com.
The club had previously announced ceremonies honoring Trammell and Morris, including the retirement of their respective jersey numbers and replica jersey giveaways. Morris will be honored on Sunday, Aug. 12, when the Tigers host the Twins. Trammell's ceremony is set for Sunday, Aug. 26, before the Tigers face the White Sox.
The Tigers are also offering a four-game ticket package that includes both dates plus two others, starting at $76, available at tigers.com/HOF. Ticket package purchases include replica Hall of Fame plaques for both inductees.
While the club will honor the 1968 World Series team when the Cardinals come to town Sept. 7-9, including "Sock It To 'Em" socks on Sept. 7, a 1968 replica road jersey on Sept. 8 and a pennant on Sept. 9, the celebration goes throughout the season. Detroit will give away bobbleheads of 1968 great Al Kaline on May 26, Bill Freehan on June 2, Willie Horton on July 7 and Mickey Lolich on Aug. 25.
The one current Tiger getting a bobblehead this year is Nicholas Castellanos. Those will be given away on May 27, part of the Sunday Kids Day promotions that include free kids rides on the carousel and ferris wheel and postgame chances for kids to run the bases.
Gardenhire doesn't get a bobblehead for his first season in a Tigers uniform, but the Gardy gnome will be one of the more unique giveaways of the season, set for July 21.
Returning promotions include Kids Opening Day on April 15, Star Wars Night on May 11, Pink out the Park for Mothers Day on May 13, Bark in the Park games for May 14 and Sept. 17, Polish-American Night on May 25, Negro Leagues Weekend June 8-10 and Fiesta Tigres on Aug. 11. The Tigers will also feature Friday night fireworks again after 10 home games beginning on May 25.
