KANSAS CITY -- Royals left-hander Danny Duffy received an anti-inflammatory injection after Saturday night's start against the Cardinals to relieve shoulder stiffness, but it's unclear what effect that will have on his next start.
Manager Ned Yost said Duffy has been dealing with stiffness in his past four starts, in which he allowed 19 runs in 22 2/3 innings.
"Been battling through it," Yost said. "We'll see how he feels. I'm gonna wait and make my decision probably Tuesday. See what's best for him, if he needs to bump one start or not."
Duffy, who was ejected in the sixth inning of the Royals' 8-3 loss on Saturday, is scheduled to start Thursday's series finale against the Blue Jays. He would prefer to make that start, but Duffy says it's possible he gets pushed back "two or three days."

"We'll play it by ear," Duffy said. "I don't want to say anything's concrete because of the way it is. You never know. You can never put your finger on it 110 percent."
Duffy said he's doing everything in his power to avoid a trip to the disabled list.
"I'm fine with staying on the field," Duffy said. "I've taken a lot of pride in staying on the field this year, and I don't want to be on the DL."
Boyer joins bullpen
Right-hander Blaine Boyer was activated from the 60-day disabled list ahead of Sunday's I-70 Series finale at Kauffman Stadium.
Boyer had been on the DL since the end of May with a right lower back strain. After a pair of rehab stints with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, the Royals brought him back to get another right-handed arm in the bullpen.
To make room for Boyer, Glenn Sparkman was optioned to Omaha and Jorge Soler was moved to the 60-day disabled list.
