KANSAS CITY -- Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi left Tuesday night’s 11-0 win over the White Sox in the fifth inning with a left shoulder injury.

The club announced after the game that Mondesi would get an MRI as soon as possible, but that no results would be released until Wednesday. Third baseman Hunter Dozier said that Mondesi told him he thought the shoulder was dislocated.

“Nothing he could do," manager Ned Yost said. "Just going for the ball and got extended. Hurt his shoulder.” 

With one out, Yolmer Sanchez lifted a foul pop down the left-field line. Mondesi raced and dived head-first trying to reach it, and he came down hard on his left shoulder while the ball bounced out of his reach. Trainer Nick Kenney and Yost immediately came out toward Mondesi, who was in obvious pain.

After a few moments, Mondesi was helped to his feet by Kenney and they walked back toward the dugout and the clubhouse.
