About Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium opened in 1998 and is the current home for Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training as well as the Jupiter Hammerheads (Single-A, Miami) and Palm Beach Cardinals (Single-A, St. Louis) who compete in the Florida State League. Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium hosted the Montreal Expos for Spring Training from 1998-2003 before the Marlins took their place.

The first game played at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium was on February 28, 1998, between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Montreal Expos, with the Cardinals defeating the Expos 5-0 in front of 6,889 fans. Cardinals' pitcher Cliff Politte threw the very first pitch at the stadium and Mark McGuire hit the first home run at RDCS.

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is known to be “America’s Busiest Ballpark” with two MLB teams holding their Spring Training games for 30 games in 30 days, as well as two minor league teams playing a combined 132 regular season home games. The state-of-the-art facility is the only facility in the country to host two Minor League Baseball organizations, in addition to Major League Baseball Spring Training.
