Brian Chattin is in his 26th season with the Miami Marlins and ninth as Assistant General Manager. In his current role, Mr. Chattin works with President of Baseball Operations Peter Bendix on a variety of aspects involving the Major League club including roster management, player evaluation, salary arbitration, contract research and negotiations, and waivers and rules compliance.
He spent the prior 11 seasons as the Director of Player Development. In this role, Mr. Chattin oversaw all aspects of the organization’s minor league system, including player growth and development, player evaluation, roster management, contract negotiations, rules compliance and affiliate relations. Mr. Chattin spent the 2002 through 2004 seasons as the Marlins’ Baseball Operations Assistant. In this role, he assisted in all aspects of player development administration as well as various aspects of the Marlins’ Major League and scouting operations.
Mr. Chattin joined the Marlins in March 1998 as a Marketing Intern. He was hired full-time in the sales department in June of that same year. He transitioned to the baseball operations department in March of 2002. He began his baseball career in 1996 as a front office executive with the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League.
Mr. Chattin graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Indiana in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He earned a Master’s in Sports Administration
from Ohio University in 1998. Mr. Chattin was born and raised in Freelandville, Indiana. He and his wife, Amy, have a son, Wylie, and a daughter, Ella.
