Burke Badenhop is in his fourth season with the D-backs and third as Special Assistant to the General Manager. He joined the franchise in 2017 in the newly created analyst role. In his current capacity, he assists baseball operations and pitcher acquisition and development.
Badenhop played eight seasons in the Major Leagues with the Florida Marlins (2008-11), Tampa Bay Rays (2012), Milwaukee Brewers (2013), Boston Red Sox (2014) and Cincinnati Reds (2015), posting a 3.74 ERA and 20-27 record in 418 career games. He was originally drafted by the Tigers and traded to Florida in the deal that sent Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to Detroit.
The Atlanta native attended Perrysburg High School in Ohio, the same high school attended by former Major League manager Jim Leyland. He then graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics from Bowling Green State University, where he met his wife, Sara, a soccer player. Badenhop’s parents both attended Bowling Green where his father, Dalynn, played basketball.
Badenhop is the co-author of the book “Financial Planning For Your First Job.”
