Amiel Sawdaye joined the Diamondbacks as Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager in 2016. In his role, Sawdaye oversees the team’s amateur and international scouting and assists GM Mike Hazen on all facets of baseball operations. Under his guidance, the team’s drafts since 2017 have yielded current Major Leaguers Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas, Pavin Smith and Daulton Varsho.
Prior to coming to the desert, Sawdaye spent 15 seasons (2002-16) with the Boston Red Sox, where he was a part of three world championship teams in 2004, ‘07 and ‘13. As Vice President of Amateur and International Scouting (2010-16), the Red Sox drafts produced Matt Barnes, Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley, Travis Shaw and Brandon Workman.
The Baltimore native graduated from the University of Maryland in 1999 with a degree in decisions information systems.
Sawdaye is active with the Williams Syndrome Association.
He and his wife, Danielle, reside in Scottsdale with their two daughters, Lily and Mia, and son, Max.
