PHOENIX -- It seems D-backs right-hander Shelby Miller is on the right track. On Tuesday, he threw five innings of one-run baseball for the Class A Advanced Visalia Rawhide in his first Minor League rehab start.
Miller struck out eight batters and walked none against San Jose. Of his 65 pitches, 52 were strikes, an impressive ratio.
He gave up just four hits. The only run he allowed was on an RBI single.
Miller had pitched in extended spring training, but Tuesday marked a big step forward for him as he recovers from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last May.
D-backs manager Torey Lovullo on Monday said Miller had "hit every landmark perfectly." Tuesday was a continuation of that.
