GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Robbie Ray's start against the Dodgers on Saturday was a rough one, as he allowed five runs on four hits in just two-thirds of an inning in the D-backs' 14-6 loss. But the left-hander was able to get some work done in the bullpen after being taken out.
"Just getting a little quick with my delivery," Ray said. "It's early, just trying to get things clicking on the same track. Just getting too quick with my finish and kind of falling off, and I was leaving everything arm-side."
After simulating two batters in the bullpen, he felt better about where he was at.
"I was able to get back to my focus and what I do best, pitching downhill," Ray said. "I was pretty happy to go down there and finish up."

Dyson comes through OK
Outfielder Jarrod Dyson, who missed the final four weeks of the 2017 season with a hernia injury, saw his first game action Friday as a designated hitter and came through it feeling well.
Dyson had to beat out an infield single, then was replaced by a pinch-runner.
"I felt like at this early point in time, to keep him out there would be counterproductive," manager Torey Lovullo said. "I saw enough of what I needed. We may add on and let him finish the whole baserunning cycle if he gets on the next time and see how he feels at that point."
Dyson is scheduled to play Monday night against the Padres, but Lovullo said he's not sure yet whether he will DH again or play the outfield.
Injury update
Closer candidate Brad Boxberger, who has had some general soreness in his right arm according to Lovullo, will throw a bullpen Sunday.
Meanwhile, reliever Jimmy Sherfy (right shoulder fatigue) is continuing his throwing program.
Feliz debuts

Reliever Neftali Feliz, a non-roster invitee, made his debut Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning with a hit allowed and a strikeout.
Feliz was a little late arriving to camp due to some paperwork issues coming from the Dominican Republic.

D-backs right fielder Steven Souza Jr. made a diving catch of Chris Taylor's drive to right-center to end the first inning Saturday.

Oops
Veteran catcher Jeff Mathis left his jersey back at Salt River Fields, but clubhouse manager Roger Riley was able to come up with one that fit him so he could start behind the plate in Glendale.
Mathis, wearing No. 88, did confuse the public address announcer, who initially announced that it was Minor Leaguer Ronnie Freeman, who is listed with that number.
Mathis is not the first uniform snafu for the D-backs this spring. Right-hander Archie Bradley forgot his pants for a game against the Giants at Scottsdale Stadium.
