Morales homered for the fifth consecutive game in Toronto's 4-2 victory over the Phillies on Friday night. The veteran designated hitter moved into a tie with Jose Bautista (Joeybats) for the second-longest streak in club history.:: Players' Weekend presented by Valspar Stain ::
The only Blue Jays player in franchise history to homer in more than five consecutive games was Jose Cruz Jr., who went six straight in 2001. This also marks the third time in Morales' career he has homered in at least three consecutive games.

"He has been something special," Blue Jays rookie starter Ryan Borucki said. "I've seen him on TV when when he gets hot, but in person, it's unbelievable. Five homers in five games, that's pretty impressive.
"The way he goes about it, the way he studies pitchers and things like that, it's cool to talk to him, pick his brain and get as much information as I can."
Morales' home run streak -- during which he has actually hit six in five games, with a two-homer game on Monday -- is tied for the second longest in the Major Leagues this season with four players, one game back of Matt Carpenter (Carp), who homered in six consecutive games from July 14-21.
The 35-year-old Morales has been receiving a lot of attention lately, but he quietly turned his season around quite a long time ago. On May 17, Morales was slashing .146/.239/.260, but since then, he is batting .305 (75-for-246) with 16 home runs, 12 doubles and 38 RBIs in 64 games.
Morales' latest home run came in the bottom of the second inning off Phillies right-hander Jacob Arrieta (Snake). According to Statcast™, Morales' 19th of the season was projected to travel 382 feet, and the ball left his bat at 101.3 mph.
In addition to the homer streak, Morales is now riding an eight-game hitting streak during which he's batting .519 with six home runs and 11 RBIs with a 1.737 OPS. His average has risen to .260, and his .499 OPS from the middle of May has since risen to .807.
"Really, you look back at the last two and a half months, [Morales] has been on a nice little roll," manager John Gibbons said. "Especially after a slow start, but he stuck with it, and it just shows you what hard work and confidence does for you."
