Bo Bichette and Freddie Freeman put together stellar weeks for teams that are deep in the thick of a playoff race. For their efforts, they were named the Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet on Monday.

Bichette opened the week with one of the more productive days you’ll ever see, as the 24-year-old tallied six hits and seven RBIs across both games of a doubleheader sweep of Baltimore on Monday. After recording three hits and two RBIs in the first game, Bichette had the first three-homer game of his career in the nightcap. Bichette followed that performance up with a four-hit game on Tuesday.

After going hitless in the finale against Baltimore, Bichette hit his fifth home run of the week on Friday against Texas before hitting three doubles on Saturday and recording a single on Sunday. This is Bichette’s first time winning a Player of the Week Award, and he becomes the third Blue Jay to win it this year, joining Kevin Gausman and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 

For Freeman, this week’s award is another accolade in what’s quickly become a season full of honors for the star first baseman. In six games last week, Freeman went 12-for-22 (.546) with three home runs, eight RBIs, four walks and only three strikeouts. Freeman recorded a hit in every game he played in, and had multihit games in four of the six contests. His best performance of the week came on Saturday, when he drove in four runs and had a home run as part of a four-hit day against the Padres.

Freeman also recorded a home run on Monday against the Giants and on Saturday against the Padres, along with tallying his second three-walk game of the year on Wednesday against the Giants. This is Freeman’s third time winning Player of the Week honors this year, and marks the eighth time he’s won Player of the Week in his career.
