Blue Jays reach deal with reliever Oh
February 26th, 2018
The Blue Jays have agreed to terms with right-hander Seunghwan Oh, the team announced Monday. The deal is a one-year contract with a club option for 2019 that can automatically vest based on appearances.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Toronto designated Ezequiel Carrera for assignment.
The 35-year-old spent last season with the Cardinals, where he had a 4.10 ERA in 62 games. After an 11-year professional career in Korea and Japan, Oh posted a 1.92 ERA with 103 strikeouts and 18 walks in 2016.
The deal could help bridge the gap to closer Roberto Osuna.
A deal between Oh and the Rangers fell through earlier this month. The deal was pending a physical, but it was never completed.
