Bullpen Catcher/Strategist
Allan de San Miguel is in his third season on the Royals Major League staff as a Bullpen Catcher/Strategist. He began transitioning into a coaching role at the minor league level in 2021, after managing the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League from 2020-21.
De San Miguel, who is a native of Perth, Australia, also played for Melbourne from 2010-20 each offseason, in addition to a 12-year career in the minor leagues, including two seasons in the Royals organization from 2016-17. His professional career began in 2005 with the Twins, before he joined the Orioles organization in 2012. He spent the 2014 season playing in the Independent Atlantic League, before briefly re-joining the Twins organization at the Triple-A level in 2015. During his playing career, de San Miguel mostly played catcher, but also spent time at both infield and outfield corner positions.
