General Manager
Brian O'Halloran enters his 22nd season with the Red Sox, his fourth since being named General Manager on October 28, 2019. He is the 13th person to hold that title in team history.
As General Manager, O'Halloran partners with Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom to oversee all facets of the Red Sox baseball operations department, including Major League operations, player acquisitions, scouting, player development, and contract negotiations.
Prior to his most recent promotion, O'Halloran spent eight years as Assistant General Manager (Vice President/Assistant GM in 2012-14, Senior Vice President/Assistant GM in 2015-18, and Executive Vice President/Assistant GM in 2019) under Ben Cherington (2012-15) and Dave Dombrowski (2015-19).
Before being named Assistant General Manager in November 2011, O'Halloran served as the club's Vice President of Baseball Operations for one season (2011), and Director of Baseball Operations for five seasons (2006-10), both under Theo Epstein. He joined the Red Sox as Baseball Operations Assistant in 2002. O'Halloran began his baseball career as an intern in baseball operations with the San Diego Padres.
A native of Weymouth, MA, O'Halloran has a BA from Colby College and an MBA from UCLA. Before working in baseball, he spent two years studying ethnic conflict in Tbilisi, Georgia, and three years supervising business operations for an international logistics company in Moscow, Russia. O'Halloran was the recipient of the 2020 Carl E. Nelson Sports Achievement Award. He is active in supporting several local nonprofit organizations.
O'Halloran and his wife, Jean, have three children.
