Red Sox to kick off “Play Ball” weekend in Acton tomorrow

BOSTON, MA – As part of Major League Baseball’s “PLAY BALL” initiative created to inspire youth to play baseball and grow the game, the Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation will host four events across Massachusetts beginning tomorrow, June 8, in Acton, MA. The early kickoff of PLAY BALL weekend will celebrate the end of Acton’s Miracle League season. PLAY BALL events will continue on Friday, June 14 with the club hosting clinics for youth in Dorchester and Allston, and Saturday, June 15 with a public clinic in Lynn, MA, hosted in partnership with the Dugout.

Tomorrow, June 8, the club will host an end-of-season celebration at the Miracle League of Massachusetts in Acton with a festive atmosphere including a live DJ, games, snacks, and a visit from Wally. Media are invited to attend the Miracle League visit beginning at 9 a.m., located at 75 Quarry Road, Acton, MA.

On Friday, June 14, the club will hold PLAY BALL events during morning recess at the Dever Elementary School in Dorchester, MA, and the West End House, a Boys & Girls Club in Allston, MA later in the evening with youth club members.

On Saturday, June 15, in partnership with the Dugout, the club will host a PLAY BALL clinic in Lynn, MA that is open to all youth. The clinic will run from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Fraser Field, located at 365 Western Ave. This is free event that is open to the public, with registration required. All participants of Red Sox PLAY BALL events will receive a branded t-shirt and a Franklin Sports bat and ball set.
