BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation will introduce the newest class of Red Sox Scholars tomorrow, June 1, at Fenway Park in a ceremony before the 4:10 p.m. Red Sox- Tigers game. The Red Sox Scholars program is presented by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), the Official Hospital and Official Health Care Provider of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park. This year’s cohort welcomes 12 seventh graders to the program.

The new seventh graders entering the Red Sox Scholars Program brings the total number of participants to 361. In addition to this newest class, the ceremony will celebrate 17 Red Sox Scholars who are graduating high school and college in 2024. Scholars from each of the previous 21 years will also be in attendance.

The Red Sox Scholars program is managed by the Foundation and designed to provide students from Boston Public Schools and Charter Schools with access to college by awarding $10,000 college scholarships. In addition to the scholarship, each student receives academic, professional, and social support for at least nine years as they navigate middle school, high school and college. Collectively, these supports ensure that Red Sox Scholars graduate from college with as little debt as possible, equipped with skills that will help them enter the workforce.

This year marks the sixth consecutive year that the program has achieved a 100 percent graduation rate among high school participants. The Foundation is proud to celebrate its eleventh cohort of college graduates who were selected into the program in 2015. The program earned Major League Baseball’s first-ever “Commissioner’s Award for Philanthropic Excellence” in 2010.

The Red Sox Scholars Program also receives funding from Aramark, Aura, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, BuildSubmarines.com, Collegium, Doris Buffet Legacy Foundation, Evolv, IBEW, Moderna, and PSG Equity. Red Sox Foundation fundraising events also support the Scholars program.
