Red Sox reinstate right-handed pitcher Lucas Sims from 15-day injured list
Club options left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn to Triple-A Worcester
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Lucas Sims from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, the club optioned left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn to Triple-A Worcester.
Sims, 30, was placed on the Injured List on August 27 with a right lat strain and made two scoreless rehab appearances with Worcester. Acquired by Boston from the Cincinnati Reds on July 30, the right-hander has recorded an 8.10 ERA (9 ER/10.0 IP) in 11 games for the Red Sox. Originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 4.53 ERA (152 ER/302.0 IP) in 241 career games with Atlanta (2017-18), Cincinnati (2018-24), and Boston (2024).
Horn, 26, has recorded a 6.50 ERA (13 ER/18.0 IP) in 18 games for the Red Sox this season, his Major League debut. The left-hander also owns a 2.25 ERA (7 ER/28.0 IP) in 20 games for Worcester. Acquired by Boston from the Chicago White Sox on April 30, the Texas native was originally selected by the White Sox in the fifth round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft.
