Red Sox players and partners launch 7th annual "Christmas in July" fundraiser

July 9th, 2024

BOSTON, MA- The Red Sox today announced the 7th annual “Christmas in July” fundraiser is now live and will run through Wednesday, July 31. This year’s program is being organized by Red Sox players and their partners: pitcher Nick Pivetta and his wife Kristen, pitcher Chris Martin and his wife Dani, pitcher Kenley Jansen and his wife Gianni, pitcher Lucas Giolito and his wife Madalana, and catcher Reese McGuire. Donations and funds raised will help Boston Children’s Hospital purchase meaningful items for patients and provide urgent needs for patient families.

Now through July 10, the first 10 individuals to donate $1,000 will receive an item signed by a member of the 2024 Red Sox roster, and the first five individuals to donate $5,000 will receive two passes to batting practice. Fans can donate online by visiting bostonchildrens.org/July.

Donations are used in the following ways:

  • $50: Five gingerbread kits for creating and eating.
  • $100: Five medical play kits to help patients learn about and better understand their hospital experience.
  • $250: Holiday decorations for one inpatient unit.
  • $500: Half a day of inpatient visits from Santa.
  • $1,000: Toys, blankets, and comfort items for 10-15 patients who will spend the holidays at the hospital.
  • $5,000: Restock a playroom or purchase tech items like iPads, offering distraction and learning opportunities during procedures or long stays.

Christmas in July began in 2018 when former Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland and his wife Susannah organized a toy collection at Fenway Park for the Boston Children’s Hospital playroom.
