Club Recalls Infielder Vaughn Grissom from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed outfielder Rob Refsnyder on the 10-Day Injured List with a right forearm strain. To fill his spot on the active roster, Boston recalled infielder Vaughn Grissom from Triple-A Worcester.

Refsnyder, 33, has played in a career-high 93 games for Boston, making 31 starts in left field, 20 in right field, and 10 as the designated hitter. The right-handed hitter has batted .283 (77-for-272) with an .830 OPS, 16 doubles, and 11 home runs. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, he has batted .253 (294-for-1,163) in 471 career games with the Yankees (2015-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2017), Tampa Bay Rays (2018), Texas Rangers (2020), Minnesota Twins (2021), and Red Sox (2022-24).

Grissom, 23, has played in 23 games for Boston this season, making 22 starts at second base and one as the designated hitter while batting .148 (12-for-81). The right-handed hitter has also played in 55 games for Worcester, batting .259 (50-for-193) with six home runs, 34 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. In 15 September games with Worcester, he has hit .340 (16-for-47) with a .508 on-base percentage, 14 runs scored, and 12 RBI. Originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has batted .249 (74-for-297) in 87 career Major League games with the Braves (2022-23) and Red Sox (2024).
