Little change in Red Sox's Minors staff
The Red Sox announced their 2017 Minor League coaching staffs on Wednesday, returning most of their members from last season.
At Triple-A Pawtucket, Kevin Boles will manage his fourth season. Pitching coach Bob Kipper and hitting coach Rick Gedman will also return, and Bruce Crabbe will continue as an additional coach.
Double-A Portland manager Carlos Febles will enter his second season as the Sea Dogs' skipper, and pitching coach Kevin Walker will return for his third season in that role. Hitting coach Lee May Jr. will join the Portland staff after spending 2016 with Class A Greenville. Mickey Jiang will be an additional coach.
Class A Advanced Salem brings back manager Joe Oliver for his second season. Nelson Paulino, who has been in the Red Sox organization for two decades, will stay on as hitting coach, while Paul Abbott will return to Salem as pitching coach.
At Greenville, Darren Fenster will manage his fourth season, while Walter Miranda returns as pitching coach. Hitting coach Wilton Veras, who also played in the organization for eight years, joins the Drive from Class A short-season Lowell.
Lowell returns manager Iggy Suarez and pitching coach Lance Carter, while Nate Spears, who played in the organization from 2010-12, joins the Spinners from Greenville as hitting coach.
The Gulf Coast League Red Sox bring back manager Tom Kotchman, pitching coach Dick Such and hitting coach Junior Zamora. Former American League Rookie of the Year Angel Berroa will join the team as an additional coach.
For the Dominican Summer League Red Sox, Jose Zapata will serve as Latin American field coordinator for an 11th season. Aly Gonzalez returns as manager, Oscar Lira and Aquilino Lopez return as pitching coaches, and Carlos Adolfo and Ozzie Chavez return as hitting coaches.
