Dr. Charles Steinberg Returns To The Red Sox

BOSTON, MA – Dr. Charles Steinberg, who served as Executive Vice President/Public Affairs for the Red Sox from 2002 through 2007, will return to the club as Senior Advisor to the President/CEO.

Steinberg has served as Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of Baseball – Public Affairs, since 2010.

“The 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park marks an extraordinary time in the history of the Red Sox, and our ownership group was eager to have ‘Dr. Charles’ return to be an active and creative participant,” said club President/CEO Larry Lucchino, who made the announcement.  “We are grateful that Commissioner Selig has agreed to let him return at this historic time for our franchise.”

“It is an honor to return for the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park,” Steinberg said.  “And to again help foster, nurture, and enhance the connection between the passionate fans of Red Sox Nation and their beloved ballclub and ballpark.”

Steinberg began his career with his hometown Baltimore Orioles, for whom Lucchino was club president from 1988-1993.  He went with Lucchino to the San Diego Padres in 1995 and to the Red Sox in 2002.  Steinberg left the Red Sox in December, 2007, to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, for whom he was Executive Vice President/Public Relations and Marketing (Chief Marketing Officer) before joining the Commissioner in 2010.
