Papi's must-see reaction to Schwarber's slam
Red Sox fans had plenty to cheer about during the team’s 12-3 win over the Astros in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series to take a 2-1 series lead, but one fan in particular had his excitement on full display following one of the game’s biggest moments.
That fan? None other than Red Sox great David Ortiz.
Boston broke the game open in the second inning on a grand slam by Kyle Schwarber, giving the club a 6-0 lead and sending the Red Sox faithful into an early frenzy. But there may not have been anyone in Fenway Park who enjoyed the slam more than Ortiz did as he watched it unfold on a TV in the green room.
Ortiz, who has been an analyst on FOX Sports’ pregame and postgame shows this postseason, was brought to his feet by the blast and showed off his dance moves as Schwarber made his way around the bases. Ortiz then spiked a towel to put an exclamation mark on his intense celebration.
Big Papi, though, is used to being the center of attention in October. He was a driving force in three World Series victories for the Sox, winning the World Series MVP Award in 2013. He has 17 career home runs in the postseason, but he never had a celebration quite as eccentric as his passionate display on Monday.
