About Tessie the Green Monster

Tessie the Green Monster made her Major League debut on April 4, 2016, and is the little sister of the Boston Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster. She was named after the song fans in the bleachers sang during games to distract the outfielders in the 1910s. Tessie believes she is the good luck charm for the team and lives up to her name.

Tessie’s favorite color is red and she loves lots of sparkles. Her favorite subject to learn about in school is science. When she is not watching the Red Sox play she will catch up on NESN Clubhouse or watch Monsters University. Tessie loves being at the ballpark for all the games to help out in any way she can, especially during theme nights, but she always takes a break for fried dough.

Before moving to Boston, Tessie lived at JetBlue Park with her parents Walter and Wanda in Fort Myers, FL. Every spring training she loved to help Wally behind the scenes and in 2016 he invited her to visit Boston and help him with games during the regular season. She was so excited for this opportunity she quickly moved up to Boston.

Tessie loves helping Wally prepare Fenway Park for the fans and players. She tries to learn as much as possible from her older brother just in case he decides to go on vacation and misses his flight home.

In her free time she enjoys helping her friends at the Jimmy Fund raise money and bring awareness to help fight against cancer. During her time with the Red Sox Tessie has shown girls that baseball is not just for boys and anyone can enjoy the sport.
