Fall programming concludes, winter session to begin in January

Yesterday, Thursday, Nov. 9, marked the conclusion of the fall baseball and softball training session. More than 650 athletes 7-18 years old attended the programming session, bringing the total participation for 2023 baseball and softball training to 2,015 kids.

While baseball and softball programming has officially concluded for the remainder of the year, the Youth Academy will continue to host select camps and events for its families.

Programming will return in late January, with registration for the free sessions opening at the beginning of the new year at rangers.com/academy.

Rangers Youth Academy athletes featured in WFAA’s World Series weather reports

Texas Rangers Youth Academy athletes Carter Washington, Bella Morales and Greylon Lawrence joined Dallas Fort Worth’s ABC affiliated WFAA to report the World Series weather forecast alongside their team of meteorologists.

The First Pitch Forecast featured the young baseball and softball players as they broke down game day temperatures throughout the Rangers’ World Series run versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Savannah Vargas returns from U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup

Savannah Vargas, a member of the 15U Mexico National Team, returned from her first international tournament, the U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup, which took place in Tokyo, Japan, from Oct. 21-29.

Vargas and Team Mexico advanced out of the Opening Round group play stage and into the Super Round, where they ultimately fell short of the podium.

Utilized as the team’s catcher, third baseman and go-to batter in a pair of pinch-hit situations across six games played, Vargas tallied 13 total plate appearances with a .462 batting average and 1.077 OPS.

On her first visit to Japan, she most looked forward to “seeing how other girls around the world play softball, the food and Japanese anime,” while also getting to represent her grandparent’s home country of Mexico on the national stage.
