Rangers Youth Academy to compete in Cat Osterman Softball Academy Winter Invitational

Fourteen Texas Rangers Youth Academy softballers will travel to Austin, Texas on Jan. 6, to participate in the annual Cat Osterman Softball Academy Winter Invitational.

The round-robin tournament will see the Rangers face teams from the Cat Osterman Softball Academy, Houston Astros Youth Academy and Austin-based travel team, the Jets.

Play will start Saturday at 9 a.m. on Mabson Field, with the Rangers playing in the final two games of the day at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Following the conclusion of play Saturday, participants will partake in a high-level softball camp led by college coaches throughout the area, where they will receive instruction to improve play while showcasing their existing arsenal of skills.

Pool play will conclude Sunday morning. The two teams with the highest records in round-robin play will then face off in the championship game at 1 p.m., with the remaining two teams competing in the 3 p.m. third-place game.

The Rangers will look to capture this year’s championship title after two consecutive runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2023.

Another year is here, and the Texas Rangers Youth Academy will again host baseball and softball training, showcases, tournaments, classes and community events for its athletes throughout the months ahead.
