Rangers sign RHP Jacob Webb to one-year Major League contract
Right-hander set career-highs in innings and strikeouts with Baltimore in 2024
Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Jacob Webb on a one-year Major League contract for the 2025 season.
Webb, 31, established career-bests in innings pitched (56.2) and strikeouts (58) for Baltimore in 2024, going 2-5 with a 3.02 ERA (19 ER/56.2 IP) and 2 saves in 60 appearances out of the Orioles bullpen. Utilized exclusively as a reliever in his five-year MLB career, the right-hander has compiled a 12-10 record with a 2.98 ERA (62 ER/187.0 IP), 6 saves, and 186 strikeouts in 192 games for Atlanta (2019-21), Los Angeles-AL (2023), and Baltimore (2023-24). Among pitchers with 190+ appearances since 2019, Webb is one of 20 players to sport a sub-3.00 ERA in that span.
The Riverside, Calif. native began his professional career with the Braves when he was selected in the 18th round of the 2014 MLB Draft from Tabor College (Kan.). Following stints in the Atlanta, Arizona, and Los Angeles-AL organizations, Webb was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on August 7, 2023 and recently elected free agency after the 2024 season.
With today’s move, the Rangers now have 40 players on the club’s Major League roster.
