The Texas Rangers Youth Academy opened applications for three college scholarship programs for eligible athletes participating in year-round baseball and softball training, and the Rangers Nike RBI summer league.
College scholarships available for graduating high school seniors include:
- Rangers Nike RBI Scholarship, presented by Nathaniel Lowe:
Established in 2019, and thanks to the generosity of Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, two (2) current Rangers Nike RBI participants will receive a one-time payment of $5,000.
- Rudd-Holley Family Scholarship:
Established in 2024, thanks to the generosity of the Rudd-Holley family, one (1) scholarship will be awarded annually to a multi-year Youth Academy participant worth $5,000 per year over four (4) years for a total of $20,000.
- Young Family Scholarship:
Established in 2023, thanks to the generosity of Rangers general manager Chris Young, his wife Liz and their three children, two (2) scholarships will be awarded annually to current participants at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy, each worth $5,000 per year over four (4) years for a total of $20,000.
In order to be considered, student-athletes will be asked to provide two letters of recommendation, information on extracurricular activities, a written personal statement and a brief essay on how they have been impacted by the Rangers Youth Academy.
The Texas Rangers Scholarship Advisory Committee will review the applications and make their decisions based on several criteria, including the contents of the submitted written materials, overall academic achievement and financial need.
Eligible Academy athletes were emailed application details on Wednesday, May 1. The deadline to apply for all three programs is 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.
