Choo's on-base streak at 45 after leadoff tater
DETROIT -- Shin-Soo Choo hit a leadoff home run on the second pitch of Friday's 3-1 loss against the Tigers at Comerica Park, extending his on-base streak to 45 games. That is the longest streak in the Majors this season, and one game away from tying Julio Franco for the longest in franchise history.
Choo, who started at DH as he has been dealing with discomfort in his right quadriceps, has been one of the hottest bats in the Rangers' lineup of late. He entered Thursday's game batting .335 during his on-base streak.
Choo's 17th home run of the season traveled an estimated 436 feet to center field, per Statcast™, and had an exit velocity of 104.1 mph. This is the most home runs Choo has had prior to the All-Star break. It was also his third leadoff home run of the season and the 25th of his career.
