ARLINGTON -- Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn, who was the Rangers' first-round pick in last week's MLB Draft, was a guest of the club on Sunday at Globe Life Park to watch their game with the Astros.
Winn is scheduled to have his physical on Monday and be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday. Winn is expected to forego a commitment to TCU and sign with the Rangers for close to his slot value of $3,738,500 as the 15th overall pick in the Draft.
The Rangers expect to have most, if not all, of their top 10 picks signed at some point this week. As with Winn, a formal physical is the final step before an official announcement. The 6-foot-2 Winn was 8-2 with a 0.20 ERA this season for Orange Lutheran High School (Calif.).
Perez progressing
Rangers left-handed starter Martin Perez, on the disabled list with nerve inflammation in his right arm, threw a 45-pitch live batting practice session Saturday and was pleased with the results.
"I think my last 20, 22 pitches, I found my timing and rhythm with my pitches," Perez said. "I threw a lot of strikes on my last pitches."
Perez, who threw a 45-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, is scheduled to throw another bullpen session at Double-A Frisco next week. He will also throw live batting practice Friday.
Play Ball event
Before Sunday's series finale against the Astros at Globe Life Park, the Rangers held a pregame parade on the warning track that featured RBI, Play Ball and youth baseball and softball participants.
As part of MLB's Play Ball Weekend, a pregame presentation and lineup card delivery featured RBI participants from the Rangers' MLB Youth Academy.

Rangers beat
• Manager Jeff Banister said Adrian Beltre could play both games at third base when the Rangers play an Interleague set against the Dodgers on Tuesday and Wednesday at Dodger Stadium. Banister said it will depend on how Beltre feels heading into the games.
• The Rangers became the only team since 1908 to draw 10 walks and five hit batsmen in a single game in Saturday's loss to the Astros.
• Texas also became the first team to have five hit batsmen in a game since the Cardinals on Aug. 23, 2017, vs. the Padres.
