Major League Baseball now accepting applications for 2024 RBI for RBI scholarships
Major League Baseball is once again offering scholarships to 12 athletes involved in its Nike Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) programs across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Every year, MLB opens applications for graduating high school seniors seeking continued education at two- or four-year colleges, universities and vocational or technical schools.
The application review committee annually selects the most deserving student-athletes to receive scholarships renewable up to $20,000 to apply toward tuition, fees, books and supplies required for coursework.
The Rangers Nike RBI program has produced six alumni selected to receive scholarships over the last four years, including:
- Erin Ledesma, Class of 2020
- Charity Vernon, Class of 2021
- Kaila Torres, Class of 2022
- Ian Williams, Class of 2022
- Nicholas Garcia, Class of 2023
- Kobe Villa, Class of 2023
Eligible Rangers Nike RBI participants were emailed the 2024 scholarship information and have until Monday, May 6, to submit their completed applications.
To be considered for the award, applicants who meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.75 must submit high school transcripts or GED documentation, a FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), one letter of recommendation, details on community service and volunteer work, extracurricular activities and any awards or scholarships received, as well as several short essays.
Those selected to receive MLB RBI for RBI scholarships will be notified in June.
