The Roberto Clemente Award, originally known as The Commissioner’s Award, recognizes the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual’s contribution to his team. Each year, every Club nominates a player that truly understands the value of helping others. In 2015, the Rangers nominated Adrián Beltré.
In 2021 , Major League Baseball announced the inaugural “Lou Gehrig Day,” which will be celebrated throughout the League on June 2nd. Gehrig joins fellow Baseball Legends Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente as the only players whose legacies are celebrated annually with dedicated, league-wide days.
The purpose of the Commissioner's Community Initiative is to support youth-related charitable causes. As such, we are happy to offer tickets to disadvantaged children, children's charities, and public servants, along with other deserving groups.
