Osleivis comes from a baseball family…his father and grandfather both played professionally at some level while his younger brother, Edgar, is currently in the Texas Rangers organization…several of his cousins also play professionally, including Luis Alexander Basabe, who was with the San Francisco Giants in 2020, and Luis Matos, who played for the Giants last season…the family holds an annual baseball game at their December reunion...He and his wife, Nohemi Arenas, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Adhara, last year...Signed by the Rangers on Dec 23, 2017 out of Venezuela…his younger brother, Edgar, was signed by the Rangers in January 2021…is the cousin of Olivier Basabe (Padres), Luis Matos (Giants) and free agents Luis Alexander Basabe and Luis Alejandro Basabe.

Spent most of the 2019 season with the AZL Rangers…played two games with Short-A Spokane to end the season…hit .323/.352/.398 (52-for-161) in 37 games between the two levels.
