Son of Mark and Debbie Mazur, and he has two older brothers, Brandon and Josh...Brandon played collegiate baseball at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa...Went to Woodbury High School (Minn.), where he was an all-state selection as a senior and a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Baseball Award as a prep senior...played shortstop when he did not pitch, and he batted .377 with a home run, five doubles and 40 RBI…his 75 strikeouts in 2018 were the third most in the state of Minnesota, and he helped lead his team to two conference titles and two state appearances, finishing third and fourth...was also a four-year basketball and two-year football letter winner...Attended South Dakota State University from 2020-21, where he went 3-9 with a 5.50 ERA over 16 starts in two seasons as the Jacks’ No. 1 starter...Pitched for the Wareham Gateman in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2021, where he was named to the Cape Cod All-League Team after going 3-0 with a 1.55 ERA in six starts with 34 strikeouts (to six walks) in 29 innings...Transferred to the University of Iowa in 2022, and after being selected by the Padres in the second round (53rd pick) of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, he became Iowa’s highest draft pick since 1990...in 2022 for Iowa, he was named Collegiate Baseball Second-Team All-American, ABCA/Rawlings Third-Team All-American, ABCA/Rawlings.

Split his first professional season between Single-A Fort Wayne and Double-A San Antonio, posting a 6-4 record with a 2.81 ERA (30 ER, 96.0 IP) in 24 appearances (18 starts)... logged 90 strikeouts between the two clubs against just 17 walks allowed...Entered 2023 ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Padres' No. 8 overall prospect and their 5th-highest ranked pitching prospect...Began the campaign with FW, making his debut on April 8 @ West Michigan, going 3.0 scoreless innings with one hit allowed...received his first professional win on June 7 @ Quad Cities...Made 12 total appearances with FW (11 starts), owning a 2.02 ERA (13 ER, 58.0 IP)...had a 1.03 WHIP with the TinCaps, holding opponents to a .227 average...
